Beloved ChocolateAndZucchini.com food blogger Clotilde Dusoulier is not a vegetarian. But she has, like many of us, chosen to eat less meat and fish, and is always looking for new ways to cook what looks best at the market. In The French Market Cookbook, she takes us through the seasons in 82 recipes—and explores the love story between French cuisine and vegetables.

Choosing what’s ripe and in season means Clotilde does not rely heavily on the cheese, cream, and pastas that often overpopulate vegetarian recipes. Instead she lets the bright flavors of the vegetables shine through: carrots are lightly spiced with star anise and vanilla in a soup made with almond milk; tomatoes are jazzed up by mustard in a gorgeous tart; winter squash stars in golden Corsican turnovers; and luscious peaches bake in a cardamom-scented custard. With 75 color photographs of the tempting dishes and the abundant markets of Paris, and with Clotilde’s charming stories of shopping and cooking in France, The French Market Cookbook is a transportive and beautiful cookbook for food lovers everywhere.

What a Treat! AAhhh, the joy of cooking! One of the hallmarks of any successful summer for me is the chance to read through old and favorite cookbooks as well as to welcome new ones. This delicious book is filled with fresh vegetarian recipes gleaned from the author’s Parisian roots and wide-spread international travels. Departing from the confines of traditional French cuisine but saving and…

Unique vegetarian recipes – great cookbook for vegetarians and non-vegetarians Well rounded vegetarian recipes using unique ingredients and fresh vegetables. I am not as creative in the kitchen as others might be so I am always on the lookout for a recipe book that might teach me how to make pastries (tarts, galettes, socas, and cookies) or soups using healthy ingredients like spelt or buckwheat or great spices like Star Anise (which is unique to me while it may be common to others). I am also a lover of ice cream and she provides a unique recipe for making ice cream…

Inspiring lovely recipes I don’t own any of Clotilde’s other books but this one appealed to me. Charming lovely pictures & many recipes I know I’ll make. The green bean with almond butter sauce was excellent. Easy to assemble & very tasty. It helped that I had all the ingredients on hand. I like that the book is divided into seasons. I like a challenge & will enjoy going out of my comfort zone & attempt something more exotic then my usual broccoli & fish!
